James and Vesper

Now we know almost complete cast of new James Bond series sequel - Casino Royale. Daniel Craig as James Bond was already confirmed a few months before, but fresh news is the main female role of Vesper Lynd will be performed by french actress Eva Green:

James Bond Vesper Lyndt

Something more is also known FBI agent Felix Leiter will be played by Jeffrey Wright, 'M' will appear (whether it will be performed by Judi Dench is not known yet) but 'Q' and 'Moneypenny" will not ... and last but not least the main 'badguy' remains still uknown.

The director Martin Campbell said about the upcoming Bond movie: "definitely darker, more characters, less gadgets". Definitely like that direction!

Danish products

I wanted to buy a danish product just as a political act (I don't think Denmark will be harmed by middle east countries boycott), but I didn't remember any danish brand besides Lego. So we searched o the Internet and ... probably the easiest way would be to buy Lurpak dairy product.

Muhammad cartoons

This is my opinion on row:

  1. Muslims don't know how it works in western democracies - They don't know the government has no influence on what newspapers print. At least no direct influence but only the influence through laws. And that is the way to defend ... the law, not embassies burning and violence.
  2. Reaction is hypocritical - As mentioned by Die Welt and others, arab newspapers and TV stations publish similar cartoons with jewish or christian themes for the long time. They say Quaran prohibits taunting other religions, but obviously they follow it. And what about mr. Ahmadinejad saying there was no holocaust ?!
  3. Free speech - We are in Europe (or Denmark) and no law prohibits cartoon making here. So we don't have to care about any Muhammad or whoever portrait ban.

So support Denmark ...

Random bits

More vaporware
I was reminded by Karl there is other vaporware comparable to Wired's no. 1 - Moucha.cc main page :(( Don't know what to say ... just stay tuned :)

Mace +5
"Richard Stallman casts aspersions using Mace of Dissing +5" article title made me think of old history when I played D&D ... and another topic appeared in my mind: Why there are no first person RPG games with cooperative multiplayer? Something which would be D&D's computer version, would be playable in more players and would bring the direct experience of FPS games.

Torture
You can find very insteresting article about torture in western world in Respekt. Imagine ... you have a guy who is drove the car with terrorists who placed the bomb in a center of big city. And time is ticking ... what would you do ?

Muhammad cartoon row - update

More and more newspapers reprint the cartoon as free speech defense Europe-wide ... France, Spain, Italy, Netherlads, Germany etc. Definitely very good point from Die Welt: "The protests from Muslims would be taken more seriously if they were less hypocritical. When syrian TV brodcasted a show portraiting rabbis as cannibals in prime time, the imams were silent."

Arabs definitively turned crazy - Muhammad cartoon

Don't know what to think about latest affair with prophet Muhammad cartoon printed in dannish newspaper. It looks like the arabs definitively lost (or never had?) their self-reflection. Boycott, diplomats recall, demonstrations ... the oil blinded their minds. Nonetheless ...

Here is the coverage: BBC 1, BBC 2, BBC 3, BBC 4, Wikipedia

And of course the cartoon itself:

Muhammad cartoon

Maybe the most sane person in this area is quite unexpectedly G. Bush (?!) as he noted in his State of the Union speech that America is addicted to oil and the way to break this addiction is the research of alternative and renewable energy sources. He wants to cut oil imports from Middle East by 75% by 2025. Hope this will not end by plundering Alaska, but it looks at least promising, because knowing the problem is the start and it actually could hapen (remeber JFK's Moon challenge or Reagan's star wars).
