Just received the latest Zivel issue and (unfortunately) just sampled the content so far. As usual it has nutritious and yummy trip to alternative with packed audio CD. This time Dogma sound – underground female hip hop sound (the highlights: Kid Sister – Get Fresh and Rye Rye – Bang). And as the bonus … I loaded Zivel’s page by the way and found a link to new Perak comics project! Story and concept art within … der Mythus, der Kult, die Wissenschaft!

Web 2.0 suicide machine
StandardKill your online alter ego easily, quickly and … forever. Take the tour or check out the testimonials. Wanted to give it a try and as an experiment kill my Twitter account (you know everything is impermanent), but got the maintenance message:
Sorry our machine is currently shutdown due to server maintenance caused by the huge amount of requests and reactions we've received in the last hours! Please consider suicide at a later moment and accept our apologies! We'll hit back!
Damn …
Worst PF ever
StandardFound video PF 2010 from Topolanek and Paroubek yesterday evening and … I have definitely seen the worst PF ever.
While Topolanek’s one is not interesting in any way and does not say anything special or inspirational, it is believable. He looks like an ordinary guy (albeit a bit dumb), he says what the people usually say, he smiles. On the other hand Paroubek’s is like a trip to North Korea – awfull place (stage with a candle … how original!), horrible speech being read from the written notes, grumpy face. Is it a sort of personality cult or what? The cameraman could tell him he looks like an idiot? OMG, this guy wants to be a PM!

God is not great
StandardGot God
is not great book by Christopher Hitchens as a Christmas present. What the irony the book contains brilliant set of arguments against the religion that gave us these holidays. Anyway it is an accusation of the religion being violent, intolerant, bigot, racist and generally against free thought. And not just christianity, but islam, judaism, east religions and basically any form of organized religion too.
Hitchens presents how irrational are the basic fundaments of the religions and how this fact is disclosed very easily if you use a bit of the logic and common sense. The highlight of the book is the author is excellent in pinpointing how the religion is misused as the ultimate reason in the war conflicts and totalitarian regimes, where we will find all religions have a lot of blood on the hands.
As always the book has its weaknesses of course. Besides few cheap carnival soundbites on the subject … the scope is too wide in my opinion (really “religion poisons everything”?) which makes some of the ideas just one sentence claims, thus making them invalidable and inconsistently weak. References are expected to be known by the reader and are not quoted (honestly who read the Bible, Quaran, ancient Greek philosophers, Hume, Spinoza and Voltaire?).
The verdict: once again the proof how worth is to use the most complex system in the universe – the brain. 8.5/10.

StandardMexican cuisine is back
StandardThe time to revoke my own fatwa on mexican food has come. After few excellent lunches in Las Adelitas, I ended my self-imposed ban which lasted almost a year since trip to Mexico City. Those lunch meals were even just the daily menus, so I should dig deeper into the regular menu and explore more all the tortillas, tostadas, frijoles etc.
Seguramente recomiendo!
