Muhammad cartoon row – update
StandardMore and more newspapers reprint the cartoon as free speech defense Europe-wide … France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Germany etc. Definitely very good point from Die Welt: “The protests from Muslims would be taken more seriously if they were less hypocritical. When syrian TV broadcasted a show portraiting rabbis as cannibals in prime time, the imams were silent.”
Goodbye BBC Czech
StandardAs announced before BBC Czech section closed down yesterday :( Check its 67 years history here.
Arabs definitively turned crazy – Muhammad cartoon
StandardDon’t know what to think about latest affair with prophet Muhammad cartoon printed in danish newspaper. It looks like the arabs definitively lost (or never had?) their self-reflection. Boycott, diplomats recall, demonstrations… the oil blinded their minds. Nonetheless …
Here is the coverage:
BBC 1,
BBC 2,
BBC 3,
BBC 4,
Wikipedia
And of course the cartoon itself:
Maybe the most sane person in this area is quite unexpectedly G. Bush (?!) as he noted in his State of the Union speech that America is addicted to oil and the way to break this addiction is the research of alternative and renewable energy sources. He wants to cut oil imports from Middle East by 75% by 2025. Hope this will not end by plundering Alaska, but it looks at least promising, because knowing the problem is the start and it actually could happen (remember JFK’s Moon challenge or Reagan’s star wars).

StandardAnother great editorial
StandardThere was another great sarcastic editorial from my favorite publicist Martin Komarek in MF Dnes. Check it out …Paroubek, Gross, Spidla a vlkodlak.

Gnome 2.12 stable
StandardJust went to see the progress on “GNOME 2.12 Official Release – unstable to stable” in Gentoo bugzilla … and saw “now stable on 3 archs”. At last! It took four and a half months from official release to be stable on Gentoo :( Hope more people will get involved in Gentoo’s Gnome team…
