I was confronted with a dilemma when I wanted to edit pages in Wikitravel guide. I found the article about my hometown Ceske Budejovice to be just an outline and started to edit it, but … the problem quickly appeared.
On one hand it is a travel guide so naturally it should be written by somebody who is a traveller to the particular destination and not by somebody who is local. But on the other hand you know once you meet somebody local while traveling you will get from such a person more interesting places than just those most popular (or just those in travel guides)…
Hard to decide whether to edit or not. Maybe the solution could be to edit because of knowledge of local environment, but the travelers should comment or rate the items in the guide to express what was interesting.
